Sam Rashkin, R.A.
Sam Rashkin, R.A. is the Chief Architect, Building Technologies Program for the U.S. Department of Energy
As Chief Architect for the Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Office, his primary role is leading deployment of successful research for new and existing high-performance homes. In his prior position, he managed the growth of Energy Star for Homes from its inception in 1996 to more than 8,500 builder partners, over one million labeled homes, and over 25 percent market penetration nationwide. Mr. Rashkin has recently been recognized for his contributions to sustainable housing with the 2012 Hanley Award and authored a new book titled “Retooling the U.S. Housing Industry: How It Got Here, Why It’s Broken, and How to Fix It”.

John Tooley
John Tooley is one of the nation's most respected innovators in the area of building science technology. Recipient of Florida's Governors' Energy Award, Tooley has also been honored with the Energy Efficient Building Association's coveted Joule Award for his innovative contributions to the building industry.
Florida Power and Light distinguished Tooley for his valuable contributions to its Duct Leakage Program, which received the National Energy Award. He has received numerous commendations and has also been recognized for his participation in program design and training for some of the largest utilities and building programs in the nation.
Tooley has diagnosed and repaired over 5,000 residential buildings. He has participated in residential weatherization of more than 10,000 houses. He developed the standards and conducted the training for the design and implementation of the duct diagnostic and repair programs of both Advanced Energy and Florida Power.

Katrin Klingenberg
Katrin Klingenberg is Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Passive House Institute US (PHIUS). PHIUS promotes the wide adoption of passive building principles in North America through specialized consultant training and certification, project and product certification, and educational efforts for building professionals and the general public.
Ms Klingenberg designed and built the very first home built in the United States using the European standard and design specifications in 2003. She has designed and consulted on numerous passive projects since across North America’s varied climate zones and has made proposals for the possible refinement of current passive house standards to North American climate zones. In addition to her executive role she is the lead instructor for PHIUS Certified Passive House Consultant training. In that role she directs curriculum. She also directs the technical and research programs of PHIUS, and is a licensed architect in Germany.

Steve Davis, AIA, LEED AP
Steve Davis is an architect and Director of Sustainable Design at VMDO Architects, in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he oversees firm-wide sustainability efforts. Under Steve's direction, the firm has garnered numerous accolades for green building, including an American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment "Top Ten" Award. Steve has also helped the firm certify the Commonwealth of Virginia’s first three LEED Gold public elementary schools.
His most recent design for a construction trade school outside of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, broke ground in December 2011 and aims to achieve net zero energy and water usage.
Steve is a LEED-accredited professional who holds architecture degrees from the University of Virginia and Harvard University. He is currently a Director of the James River Chapter of the United States Green Building Council, and Chair of the Chapter's Charlottesville Branch. He is also a member of the Charlottesville Lunch Line Initiative--an alliance focusing on the transformation of local school food systems.

Paul Hutton, AIA, LEED AP
Paul Hutton is the founder of Hutton Architecture Studio and has dedicated his 33-year career to integrating educational facility design and sustainable building practices. He has been designing school projects since 1979 and has been daylighting them since 1982. He uses daylight as a primary tool to reduce energy use and to improve occupant well-being in all his projects. Among Paul’s notable school projects are the Aspen Middle School, Colorado's first LEED Gold public school, the American Academy School in Castle Pines North, numerous private schools, and the Institute for Science and Technology at Cherry Creek Schools.
Paul has been actively researching, publishing, and speaking on school design trends for nearly 30 years. He recently published research on Net Zero Energy Schools and the Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) movement in American education. In addition to practice and research, Paul is a long-time faculty member at the University of Colorado College of Architecture.
Paul has been a practicing architect in Colorado since 1980, is a LEED® Accredited Professional, and a member of the CEFPI. After two years as co-chair of the AIA’s Committee on Architecture for Education (CAE) K-12 Subcommittee, he has moved onto the CAE board and will chair it in 2015. He attended Princeton University, and has graduate degrees in both Architecture and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia. He lives on a near zero energy, sustainable, ranch south of Denver with his wife and two Labrador retrievers.

Jonah Schein
Jonah Schein is the Technical & Certification Coordinator for New Homes at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) WaterSense® Program. He has overseen the technical development and implementation of the WaterSense Single Family New Home specification as well as the new homes certification system since their inception. Prior to joining EPA in 2008, Mr. Schein served as the Director of Outreach for Earth Day Network (EDN) where he was responsible for a number of initiatives to promote water efficiency through green building strategies in the United States and Middle East. Mr. Schein holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Ethics and a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs and Environmental Management from Indiana University as well as a Master of Science in Environmental Science from the Johns Hopkins University.

Sarah Susanka
Bestselling author, architect and cultural visionary Sarah Susanka is leading a movement to redefine the American home and lifestyle. Eden Brukman
Eden Brukman is Vice President of the International Living Future Institute and co-author of Living Building Challenge 2.0. A licensed architect and recently named one of Portland's Forty Under 40, Eden has dedicated her career to incorporating socially and environmentally responsible strategies into design and construction. Since 1996, she has consulted on dozens of building projects and provided technical counsel to reform the objectives of public agencies and private organizations nationally and internationally. Eden was recognized as a finalist for the Buckminster Fuller Challenge in 2010 for her work on the Living Building Challenge, and now directs the program’s ongoing evolution and global deployment.

Dave Walls
David Walls was named Executive Director of Sustainability Programs for ICC in August 2011. He is responsible for assisting efforts to secure adoptions of the International Green Construction Code, assisting with developing and enhancing green-related products and services, and leading outreach efforts to industry organizations.
Immediately prior to his appointment, Dave served as the Executive Director of the California Building Standards Commission since 2006. In this position, Dave successfully directed the adoption and publication of the 2010 California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen), the first in-the-nation statewide green building code.
Prior to the Building Standards Commission, he served as an administrator with the Division of Codes and Standards for the California Department of Housing and Community Development. Additionally, Mr. Walls is a general contractor and has served as a code official in the building inspection divisions of two California cities.

The author of “Social Media for Home Builders: It’s Easier Than You Think,” Carol can walk you step-by-step through setting up an effective social marketing program that increases your Internet traffic and creates raving fans. The visionary behind the nationally-ranked and award-winning www.AtlantaRealEstateForum.com, Carol’s launch of the site in 2006 led the new media movement in the Atlanta new homes market.
With 20 years of experience, Carol has established herself as the “go to” for real estate and construction products and social media. Carol is a founder and managing partner of mRELEVANCE, LLC, an Internet Marketing, Social Media and Public Relations firm with offices in Atlanta and Chicago.
Carol holds a BA in Business and Behavioral Science from Oglethorpe University. A member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, Carol was honored in 2008 as the HBA Associate of the Year. Nate Kredich
Nate Kredich joined the U.S. Green Building Council in March 2008 as Vice President of Residential Market Development. Nate has over fourteen years of leadership experience in the building industry, touching diverse areas such as real estate finance, software, and production homebuilding. He is responsible for driving the USGBC’s programs around new and existing homes, as well as its market initiatives for the affordable housing sector. Since Nate joined the USGBC, the LEED for Homes brand has quickly gained ground throughout the residential market sector, with over 12,000 certified homes and over 40,000 additional homes awaiting certification.
Prior to USGBC, Nate spent five years working in production homebuilding as the chief operating officer and general manager of Creative Touch Interiors, a national provider of design and installation services that he helped sell to, and operate on behalf of, The Home Depot. Additional positions include corporate banking with Bank of America as well as the CEO of an interior design software company, where Nate helped build a searchable interior products database which helped design professionals gather information on sustainable products.
He is active in numerous residential sustainable projects and committees, including the Michael J. Hanley Award for Vision and Leadership in Sustainable Building. Nate received his BBA from Emory University, and his MBA from The Darden School at the University of Virginia.

Amber J. Wood
Amber Wood is the Energy Programs Manager for the NAHB Research Center.
As a leader in energy engineering for the NAHB Research Center, Amber Wood oversees engineering research projects focusing on the energy performance of residential construction and remodeling. She is primarily involved with DOE’s Building America program, which is a private/public partnership that develops energy solutions for new and existing homes. She also assists with the Energy Value Housing Award (EVHA) program.
Although Ms. Wood’s primary focus is energy efficiency, she has also been involved in green building through the National Green Building ANSI Standard Development. Ms. Wood continues to connect energy and green building in her work as builder, remodeler, and consumer interest increases.

Rick Schwolsky
Rick Schwolsky is editor-in-chief of Hanley Wood's ECOHOME magazine. He was formerly editor-in-chief of Tools of the Trade and El Nuevo Constructor, construction editor for BUILDER magazine, and Hanley Wood's project manager for The New American Home and the company's show homes built as part of The International Builders Show.
Before joining Hanley Wood in 1993, he spent 20 years as a custom homebuilder, retiring as president of Grafton Builders in Vermont. His work, starting in the 1970's, focused early on high-performance cold-climate homes and renewable energy systems, contributing to today's understanding of building performance, energy efficiency, and building science. In 1979 he was selected to help install the solar system on The White House in Washington, DC, and in 1982 he wrote The Builder's Guide To Solar Construction published by McGraw Hill. He is a long-time member of the National Association of Home Builders, and has won numerous national journalism awards for his construction writing.

Edward Mazria
Edward Mazria is an internationally recognized architect, energy expert, educator and author with a distinguished and successful career spanning 45 years. He is the Founder and CEO of Architecture 2030, a non-profit, non-partisan, solution-oriented organization. His comprehensive knowledge of design, planning, climate change and alternative energy sources are focused on a dramatic reduction of fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions generated by the Building Sector, as well as building and regional adaptation strategies for projected climactic and environmental changes.
Mr. Mazria has taught architecture at the University of New Mexico, University of Oregon, UCLA, and the University of Colorado-Denver. He is the author of numerous publications including the “bible” of solar energy, The Passive Solar Energy Book, and the influential article It’s The Architecture, Stupid!, published in 2003. His numerous awards include: AIA Design Awards, Commercial Building Awards from the Department of Energy, “Pioneer Award” from the American Solar Energy Society, Outstanding Planning Award from the American Planning Association, Landmark Designation Award from The Albuquerque Conservation Association, Equinox Award from Earth Alert, National Conservation Achievement Award from the National Wildlife Federation, the inaugural Hanley Award from the Hanley Foundation and the Mumford Award from Architects/Designers/Planners for Social Responsibility.
He is a senior fellow of the Design Futures Council, an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, and founding member of the recently established National Academy of Environmental Design.

Alex Wilson
Alex Wilson is the founder of BuildingGreen, Inc. in Brattleboro, Vermont, and executive editor of Environmental Building News (EBN) and the GreenSpec Directory of green building products. Prior to launching his own company, now BuildingGreen, in 1985, Alex served for five years as executive director of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association, then in Brattleboro. He is a widely published author, a LEED Accredited Professional, and an instructor with Boston Architectural College’s Sustainable Design Institute.
He is author or coauthor of Your Green Home (New Society, 2006) the Consumer Guide to Home Energy Savings (ACEEE, first edition, 1990, 9th edition 2007) and Green Development: Integrating Ecology and Real Estate (John Wiley & Sons, 1998) He has also written a series of four books on quiet-water canoeing and Kayaking for the Appalachian Mountain Club. Alex served on the national board of the U.S. Green Building Council from 2000 through 2005 and received the organization’s 2008 Leadership Award for Education. In 2010, he received the second annual Hanley Award for Vision and Leadership in Sustainable Housing. He lives with his wife in Dummerston and is enjoying an eight-month sabbatical this year.

Peter Pfeiffer, FAIA
Peter Pfeiffer is a LEED accredited professional Architect, Building Scientist and Real Estate professional and “hands-on” Property Manager who has spent the past 33 years designing, developing and operating pragmatic high performance buildings and homes.
In 2004 he was named a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects for his life-long commitment to "mainstreaming green building in North America”. He is a founding principal of Barley & Pfeiffer Architects, a firm recognized nationally for its pioneering use of environmentally responsive design and building science techniques. Their work has been published both in the United States and abroad in such diverse venues as the Washington Post, The New York Times, Fine Homebuilding, and Better Homes & Gardens magazine. He has been a guest on National Public Radio, the HG-TV network, as well as on The Discovery Channel and This Old House.
The National Association of Home Builders honored Peter as the “National Green Advocate of the Year” in 2003. Peter has been an active charter member of the NAHB Green Building Subcommittee since its inception and has been active in the US Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes program. He is an Advisory Board member of the Central Texas chapter of the USGBC as well as Environmental Building News.
In 2006 Residential Architect cited him as one of the 10 most influential residential architects of past decade. In 2010 Peter was nominated for the prestigious Hanley Award for his meaningful efforts to advance green building in America.

Dr. Jennifer L. Languell, Ph. D.
Founder and President of Trifecta Construction Solutions, Dr. Jennifer Languell is a nationally recognized leader in green building and sustainable development. As the owner of Trifecta she focuses on educating and implementing green building and sustainable development certifications and practices. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, a Master’s in Civil Engineering and Construction Management, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and Sustainable Construction.
For over a decade, Dr. Languell has been one of the country’s preeminent consultants in the creation of healthy, efficient and sustainable projects ranging from single-family residential homes, commercial and multi-family residential construction, to some of the largest and most sustainable land developments in the world. She specializes in a systems approach to improving home performance that balances efficiency, health and payback. Mark LaLiberte
As a distinguished trainer, author and consultant, Mark LaLiberte has devoted over two decades to educating the homebuilding industry about the benefits of constructing durable, energy efficient, healthier, more sustainable homes.
He co-created the program curriculum for the Energy and Environmental Building Association (EEBA) Houses That Work™ program which is based on the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America Program. He has served in an advisory capacity on the EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Program and the Minnesota Energy Code Advancement Project. Mark is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for his long-standing commitment to helping the home construction industry embrace building science at the 2002 EEBA Conference.
Mark has also serves on the board of the Cold Climate Housing Research Center (CCHRC) in Fairbanks, Alaska. He co-chaired the PCBC Green conference in 2007 and provides training to Habitat for Humanity on improving energy efficiency in affordable housing. He has also co-founded three successful companies, Building Knowledge, Construction Instruction, and Shelter Supply.

David Gottfried
David Gottfried is the Managing Partner of Regenerative Ventures. The firm serves as the holding company for the Regenerative Network and Regenerative Consulting. In addition, Gottfried serves as an Advisory Board member to seven venture-funded greentech start-ups, helping them to expand their business and profit in the high growth green building marketplace.
Gottfried is the founder of the USGBC and World Green Building Council – the foremost green building organizations in the world. He has over 25 years of multidisciplinary real estate, consulting and non--profit experience in the building industry: as a “green” management consultant, Cleantech strategic advisor, real estate investment fund manager and developer, and construction manager.
Gottfried received his degree in Engineering and Resource Management from Stanford University, and is a regular lecturer for the University and a member of its Sustainable Built Environment Advisory Board. Jacob Atalla
Senior Director, Sustainability Initiatives at KB Home, Jacob Atalla is focused on advancing the Company’s sustainability initiatives; with the goal of making the homes it builds more environmentally friendly, and their construction and business operations increasingly sustainable. Educated as an architect, Jacob has over 25 years of technology and green building experience, which form the foundation of his creative solutions for building energy- and water-efficient homes. Jack Armstrong
Jack Armstrong, Leader Construction Markets for BASF for North America, leads the cross-divisional construction initiative.
Jack graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas and began working for BASF in 1989. His posts have included Regional Marketing Manager for BASF South America Brazil for Acrylic Functional Polymers, General Manager Polyurethane Systems Belgium and Business Manager for Styropor, North America.
Jack's current duties focus on bundling BASF's high performance building products into integrated systems resulting in a whole greater than the sum of its parts - better buildings for a better planet.
Armstrong is often a featured speaker at national sustainable development forums. Areas of specialty include near-zero energy home and commercial building, energy retrofit solutions, carbon reduction strategies, sustainable infrastructure and chemical industry market intelligence.

Eric Corey Freed
Eric Corey Freed, LEED AP, Hon. FIGP, is Principal of organicARCHITECT, an architecture and consulting firm in California, with nearly 20 years of experience in green building.
Eric co-developed the Sustainable Design programs at the Academy of Art University and University of California Berkeley Extension. He is on the boards of Architects, Designers & Planners for Social Responsibility (ADPSR), Green Home Guide and West Coast Green, as well as the advisory boards of nearly a dozen other organizations.
He was the founding Chair of Architecture for The San Francisco Design Museum and one of the founders of ecoTECTURE: The Online Journal of Ecological Design. He is a regular contributor for GreenerBuildings.com, Luxe, Natural Home, Metropolitan Home and dozens of other publications. Eric lectures around the country at 40+ conferences a year, and his work has been featured in Dwell, Metropolis, Town & Country, Natural Home and Newsweek. He has been seen on television on Fox News, HGTV, The Sundance Channel and PBS.
When Eric was just 25 years old, noted architect and critic Philip Johnson described him as "one of the real brains of his generation". Today, Eric continues the tradition of “Organic Architecture”, first developed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Asa Foss
Asa Foss is an expert in building science, home construction, and energy efficiency. At the US Green Building Council, he is responsible for the development of the LEED for Homes rating systems. He is active in developing national green building policy recommendations, and represents USGBC on numerous national home energy efficiency committees.
Prior to his current position, he designed and managed Maryland’s award winning Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program. While running the program, he also spent time in the field training over 150 energy auditors and energy retrofit contractors.

Matt Belcher, CGP
Matt Belcher is an experienced builder/developer and nationally-recognized consultant, educator and author on the business of green building and development. He has been actively involved in the St. Louis area construction industry for three decades, including six years as a top building codes official. He founded Belcher Homes in 1993, specializing in building energy efficient, sustainable “green” homes and light commercial construction and development management using low-impact, ecologically conscious development practices. He has consulted on large sustainable mixed use commercial/residential developments and is committed to the “whole building” design approach, the philosophy that every decision should be made in the context of what else it may affect in its construction and ecosystem.
Mr. Belcher was the 2007 President of the Home Builders Association of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri. He has served on its Building Codes Committee for sixteen years including seven as Chairman. He chaired both the 2006 NAHB National Green Building Conference in Albuquerque NM and the 2007 Conference held in St. Louis, which is the nation’s leading educational conference on residential green building, remodeling and development. He was instrumental in helping to organize the St. Louis HBA’s award winning green building effort and has served as its chair for the past six years. He is also a member of the St. Louis Chapter of the US Green Building Council. In addition, he assists other HBA’s around the country in training and developing green building programs. This experience led him to organize and chair the Greening Midwest Communities conference in October 2010 to educate Builders, Remodelers, Municipal Officials and others associated with the industry to educate and promote the economic advantages of green building and development practices.
Mr. Belcher was elected by the Board of Directors of the International Code Council to serve on the Energy and Water Committee for development of the new ICC International Green Construction Code for the 2011 term.

Philip Beere - LEED AP
Philip Beere is the Founder of GreenStreet Homes, the national leader in green renovation and green education.
In 2008 Mr. Beere was recognized by The Business Journal as the Green Pioneer for green remodeling. He is the recipient of the 2010 NAHB Green Remodel Advocate of the Year Award and GreenStreet was awarded the 2010 NAHB Green Remodel Project of the Year. The State of Arizona awarded Mr. Beere the 2010 Housing Hero Award for Superior Sustainable Design.
GreenStreet Homes were featured twice on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, as a possible solution to the housing. They recently completed the second LEED certified single family remodel in the United States and the first NAHB Emerald Certified Remodel. In October of 2010, GreenStreet was awarded the coveted Valley Forward Crescordia Award for Environmental Education, and was awarded the DOE contract to create the curriculum and train the Arizona building and code officials, and the building community on the 2009/2012 IECC.
In February 2011 GreenStreet Homes launched in Denver, Maryland, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and other markets as part of their Franchise program.

Vernon McKown
Vernon McKown is co-owner and president of sales for Ideal Homes.
In his role at Ideal Homes, McKown oversees sales, marketing, land development, and mortgage operations for the company. This year Ideal Homes and its 75 employees are celebrating 20 years of business. Since 1990, the company has built over 7,000 homes for Oklahoma families and has received virtually every industry award for quality and customer service – including 2010 National Builder of the Year from Professional Builder magazine.
McKown is also a respected local and national presenter on the subject of green building. Over the past 12 months he presented his “Building Better Homes” presentation to local and national audiences.
McKown serves on numerous local boards. He severed on the American Lung Association’s advisory committee and as past president on the national board for the Energy and Environmental Building Association. He is the current president of the Norman Youth Soccer Association, past president of the Cleveland County YMCA.
When not leading Ideal Homes, you will most likely find McKown coaching soccer or t-ball, at wrestling practice with his son, or enjoying time with his family at the lake. McKown, his wife and two children live in Norman, Oklahoma.

Steve Glenn
Steve Glenn is the founder and CEO of LivingHomes, LLC, a premier developer of modern, prefabricated homes that combine world-class architecture with an unparalleled commitment to healthy and sustainable construction. Jerry Yudelson
Jerry Yudelson, PE, MS, MBA, LEED AP, is the Principal of Yudelson Associates in Tucson, Arizona.
A licensed professional engineer, Jerry Yudelson is a former board member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and chaired the USGBC’s annual Greenbuild conference from 2004 through 2009. He was the Research Scholar for Sustainability for the International Council of Shopping Centers, providing research and speaking services for ICSC. From 2001 to 2008, he trained more than 3500 people in the USGBC’s LEED green building rating system.
He is the author of 12 books on green buildings, green homes and green development, including Dry Run: Preventing the Next Urban Water Crisis (2010), Choosing Green: The Home Buyer’s Guide to Good Green Homes (2008), Greening Existing Buildings (2009) Sustainable Retail Development (2009), and Green Building Trends: Europe (2009) and Green Building through Integrated Design (2008).

Michelle Desiderio
Director of Green Building Programs at the NAHB Research Center, Michelle leads the national green building certification program based on the ANSI-approved National Green Building Standard™ (ICC 700-2008). Possessing a broad knowledge of the housing industry, Michelle has developed a unique perspective that addresses the environmental, land use, and financing issues that confront builders and developers. As a Planner for the New York City Department of City Planning, she facilitated a multi-year, citywide effort to site and build transitional housing for homeless families and individuals. As a Policy Analyst at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) she developed comprehensive and innovative policy solutions to achieve environmental goals while protecting housing affordability.
Interested in how to capture the intrinsic value of high performance homes to boost homeownership; Michelle transitioned to Fannie Mae to develop their Housing and Environment Initiative which promoted housing affordability through energy and location efficient homes. At Fannie Mae, Michelle developed the Smart Commute Mortgage and revamped the Location Efficient and Energy Efficient Mortgages. In addition, she developed a patent-winning methodology to calculate the emissions reductions from energy efficient homes so the reductions could be sold as energy credits on emerging carbon markets.
Michelle has a Masters in Urban Planning and Environmental Studies from the University of Virginia and a BS in Environmental Studies from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

Dominic Sims
Dominic Sims is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the International Code Council, a membership organization dedicated to developing and maintaining a single set of comprehensive and coordinated model codes for the built environment. Mr. Sims has overall corporate responsibilities for the operation and financial performance of the association working in conjunction with the CEO.
Mr. Sims is a past member of the SBCCI Board of Directors. He has held numerous positions, both elected and appointed at the federal, state and local level. Most notably his service as a Councilman\Vice Mayor in Jupiter Florida, and serves as vice chairman of the Florida Governor's Building Code Study Commission which shaped his view on how important it is to be active in public policy discussions concerning building safety.

Matt Golden is the current Chair for Efficiency First, a national nonprofit trade association that unites the Home Performance workforce, building product manufacturers and related businesses and organizations in the escalating fight against global warming and rising energy costs.
Matt is also the co-founder and president of Recurve, Inc. (formerly Sustainable Spaces), a leading provider of home energy audits and Home Performance retrofitting in the San Francisco Bay Area. Matt has been recognized by the Building Performance Institute as the first ever recipient of the Tony Woods Award for Excellence in Advancing the Home Performance Industry. He speaks extensively on building science and integrated green design to such groups as the American Institute of Architects, West Coast Green and Build It Green.
Matt has written numerous articles for Home Energy Magazine and has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, Forbes, the New York Times and the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Matt currently serves on the boards of the U.S. Department of Energy, the Home Performance Council, the Building Performance Institute, the California Building Performance Contractors Association, Build It Green and the Fine Home Building Magazine Green Building Advisory Board.
