When SunChips launched their new "100% compostable" bags, many of us applauded. Just think, if every chip bag moved to bio-degradeable content, think of how many less bags in the landfill? It was innovative, cutting edge technology...and it made amazing sense for the environment. But Alas, it wasn't convenient. The bags were too loud. Yes, too loud. Apparently, many people complained that they might wake up their spouse while eating in bed or was too noisy when at the movie theater. Ok, last time I checked, crumbs in bed were taboo and sneaking in chipts to a movie is against the rules. Really? We can't be a little inconvenienced to do the right thing? What message is this for us in the building industry? If it is at all inconvenient, maybe a little loud, no matter how green it is, the consumer isn't happy -- give them plastic. I am thorooughly disgusted.
