NAHB BuilderBooks’ Your New Green Home and How to Take Care of It homeowner education manual template on CD helps builders of one- and two-family homes develop a homeowner education manual that meets the requirements of the National Green Building Standard (NGBS), Section 1001.1.
NAHB BuilderBooks worked with the NAHB Research Center, which certifies green buildings and sites, to develop the manual on CD.
The template contains a comprehensive checklist of green home features included in the NGBS. All you have to do is check off the ones applicable to your home(s) and home site(s). The template includes everything you need to meet the NGBS requirement to provide homeowners with “a narrative detailing the importance of maintenance and operation in retaining the attributes of a green-built building.”
“To keep green home systems operating at peak performance over the long term, homeowners must understand how to properly operate and maintain these systems. That is why the NGBS requires builders to provide a homeowner manual,” according to Kevin Morrow, senior program manager for NAHB’s green building programs. “The Your New Green Home template on CD makes it easy for builders to provide homeowners with information about each home’s specific features without having to create a manual from scratch.”
